The Double Down Gets to Hang Around

The KFC Double Down sandwich – originally meant to be a six week promotion – has been so popular that it will be continued indefinitely.  It is the company’s most successful sandwich launch.

The whole idea is an extraordinary example of grabbing attention with a novelty item that item was considered controversial.  That type of marketing strategy can be risky, and KFC weathered a lot of bad press at the beginning.  But hanging in there paid off for them, if not for their customers’ waistlines.
