Going North Seems Like Going Uphill

I thought I was the only one, except for my husband who also expresses this idea.  Apparently lots of people have a mindset that makes going north seem like going uphill.  In a study on memory and cognition completed jointly by the US Army and Tufts University, people instinctively think of north as “up,”  which often means they will travel south if given a choice.  Whether their perspective is from the ground or birds eye, test subjects continually chose any direction but north.  The summary of the study is written up in Wired Science at Wired.com, and it makes extraordinary reading.
