Your Personal Information on the Internet

It is absolutely astounding how much of your personal information is available on the internet, even if you are careful and security conscious. Please don’t brush this aside; everyone who uses the internet needs to know this.

Elinor Mills writes the InSecurity Complex column at CNET. She recently invited a software security professor to try to hijack her email account. The column is lengthy, but definitely worth your time to read. It outlines just how easily your private information can be mined from harmless-seeming sources. It’s extraordinary and frightening.
